Workers in the discipline of Child Welfare must be equipped with necessary and up-to-date information, attitudes, skills, and abilities to effectively meet the needs of individuals and families.
To this end, the professionals in PDP's Department of Child Welfare Training bring extensive work experience to the table—from local districts of social services and voluntary child caring agencies, to juvenile justice, counseling, and other service providers.
PDP's Child Welfare staff offers collective expertise in such areas as child protective services, preventive services, foster care/adoption services and recruitment/retention, adolescent development, youth leadership, juvenile justice counseling, alcohol and substance use education, case management, and case recording and documentation.
Participants benefit from our staff members' skills in the application of adult learning theory, curriculum design and development (including online), training delivery and group facilitation, and consultation, technical assistance, and resource support services.
To ensure that materials are consistent with current trends and policy, the Department of Child Welfare Training works collaboratively with New York State OFCS directives and procedures, New York State and Federal legislation, and current research in all relevant subject areas.
