Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Public Assistance
PDP works with government staff to improve the administration of public welfare benefits that provide assistance and support to eligible individuals and families. For over 30 years, state and local agencies have contracted with PDP to develop program-specific worker training on the policies and procedures of client eligibility for specific benefits, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, Temporary Assistance, Child Care Assistance, and Child Support Enforcement services.
Core, intermediate, and advanced performance-based training assists workers in screening clients, determining programmatic eligibility, issuing benefits, and managing caseloads. Training focuses on state and federal policies, specialized computer systems, case management principles, and supervisory skills development. Additional training promotes enhanced welfare fraud investigations, and audit and quality improvement initiatives.
PDP provides training and materials in traditional classroom settings, in computer-based synchronous and asynchronous online virtual classroom environments, on video (tape and digital), and in self-instructional materials. While most of PDP's work in these fields has been in the context of New York State benefit eligibility, our staff has also developed training programs and materials for workers in Vermont, Ohio, and Florida.
